This profile paper was one of the papers that I wrote while I studied abroad. It was the first time that I challenged my creativity in a different language. The freedom on the topic allowed me to write about something I was passionate about, which is patients rights. I think it is so incredibly important for healthcare workers to exhibit empathy and compassion for the people they care for, which is the reason I chose to be a Language and International Health major. Being a part of the college of humanities has given me the skillset to see the bigger picture of people’s lives instead of simply a clinical view.

La importancia de amor
This reflection on the importance of love was one of my first essays on a short film during my sophomore year at Clemson. Through writing this reflection, I was able to focus on my grammar and use some subjunctive, which was a fairly new tense for me. The concept of replicating my thoughts into Spanish from English was hard to grasp. This reflection helped me begin this process, and this type of translating was extremely important to understand during my time studying abroad.
